Summary:
Reporting to the Vice President of Operations, the District Manager is an experienced, strategic leader with proven multi-unit management experience. Participates on a team and provides overall planning, direction, evaluation and control to assigned food and facilities service units to achieve operations and financial goals. Provides guidance and motivation to managers, supervisors and hourly associates. Establishes and maintains effective customer/client rapport. This position will lead the departments of food service, janitorial services, mail service and grounds for 4 locations in four states (Wisconsin, Texas, Georgia and Tennessee).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Interprets and ensures compliance with policies, procedures and guidelines to promote their consistent application for food service, janitorial services, mail operations and grounds management.
- Quality assurance and safety standard for the units and designs improvements to optimize financial performance and operational productivity.
- Audits units to ensure conformance with the Company, government and accrediting agency standards, regulations and codes regarding food storage, preparation, sanitation and record keeping.
- Ensures adherence to company sponsored retailing and purchasing programs.
- Develops and monitors realistic and accurate district forecasts. Ensures units’ financial performance meets Company and client forecasts.
- Establishes and maintains effective client relationship. Identifies client's needs, communicates unit progress, operations problems and new Company programs to client.
- Establishes and maintains effective customer relationships, including service recovery as well as future service deliverables.
- Interprets financial reports for client. Ensures client is aware of current applicable government regulations. Documents business content of client meetings.
- Conducts, monitors, and supports action planning in response to customer, client and associate satisfaction surveys.
- Ensures consistent and equitable administration of human resource policies, procedures and guidelines to facilitate effective employee relations and support the preferred employer focus. Audits performance appraisals and associate files. Monitors affirmative action plans.
- Recruits for management positions. Identifies district training requirements. Develops and coaches management associates to meet staffing and succession planning needs, as well as to ensure optimum utilization of district associates.
- Plans and conducts district meetings, making full use of support staff as needed.
- Establishes and maintains effective community relations.
- Ensure compliance with all outside services relative to Janitorial Services (ie. Pest Control, Window Cleaning, Solid Waste, Document Destruction and Recycling program.)
- Acts as the administrative liaison between key client contacts and the department
- Regularly inspect and evaluate physical condition of facility
Qualifications:

- Embrace excellence in customer service both for internal and external customers; have excellent verbal and written communication and customer service skills.
- Demonstrate initiative and good judgment in assisting customers, clients, peers and subordinates.
- Have the ability to think quickly and accurately, be able to evaluate problems and make appropriate recommendations to person(s) involved.
- Have the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects/events
- Have a high level of resilience during stressful periods and the ability to handle last minute changes.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree from a four year college or university preferred.
- Five years of food and facilities management experience in positions of increasing responsibility, preferably in business services setting
- Five years of multi-unit food service operations management experience is required;
- Demonstrated profit and loss management ability of at least $3M managed volume;
- Experience as direct client interface is required;
- Excellent computer skills, including advanced spreadsheet and proficiency at learning software.
