Job Description:

Compass Group, the world's largest contract foodservice company, has a Great Opportunity for career development and growth here at its North America headquarters in Charlotte, NC as a Senior Quality Assurance Engineer on our Enterprise Systems and Support team.

The successful candidate's primary role will be Quality Assurance Engineer with tasks among the duties of Software Automation Test Engineering and Application Performance Management. Day to day activities will include such things as designing and implementing test conditions and scripts, use of tools to execute test cases and report results back to team, track and drive resolution of issues, real-time monitoring, trend analysis, problem analysis and root cause isolation, development of small to medium complexity scripts and programs, performance tuning, resource capacity planning, and team collaboration.

Responsibilities

Interact with product management, project management and development teams to develop a strong understanding of the project and testing objectives.

Design and create test conditions and scripts to address business and technical use cases.

Use existing tools and techniques to execute test cases.

Participate in troubleshooting and triaging of issues with different teams to drive towards root cause identification and resolution.

Document, track and escalate issues as appropriate.

Engage in daily performance monitoring of Enterprise Applications to ensure smooth business operation.

Provide analysis of key performance metrics to isolate and resolve application issues working collaboratively with development, infrastructure, and business analyst teams.

Provide trend analysis of key performance metrics to anticipate resource needs ahead of impact to business users.

Install, configure, administer and maintain APM and performance metric gathering software.

Develop scripts and metrics gathering programs.

Implement and perform load/performance testing of enterprise applications. Produce reports and recommendations based on the outcome of those tests.

Stay abreast of new technologies and methodologies in APM and test automation space.

Qualifications:

BS in Computer Science; significant related experience may be considered in lieu of formal education

A minimum of 5 years experience working with n-tier enterprise class applications

Working knowledge of multiple OS (AIX, Linux, Windows)

Working knowledge of multiple technologies (WebSphere, Apache, Tomcat, DB2, SQL Server)

Experience with automated testing software such as HP Load Runner, Rational Functional Tester, or Rational Quality Manager

Working knowledge of performance metrics gathering methodologies (PMI, Windows Performance Monitor, JConsole/JMX, DB2 admin views, APM tools)

Experience with scripting languages (Unix, AIX, Windows shell scripts)

Ability to develop and test small programs in languages such as Java, C++, or .NET

Experience with SQL query construction

Experience installing, administering, and configuring complex applications and/or operating systems

Ability to troubleshoot software/infrastructure configuration problems is a must

Experience analyzing/reducing complex data sets

Must be able to rapidly deliver results and possess the ability to catch on quickly to new ideas and technologies

Experience with Apache, PHP, MySQL a plus

Experience with Google Analytics a plus

Experience with performance tuning a plus

Report writing skills a plus (e.g. Birt, OpenXML)
