Job Description:
As a Sr. Developer, the successful candidate will be responsible for collaborating, and coordinating software development practices across multiple applications. The Sr. Developer should possess strong technical and potential leadership qualities to plan, design, document, and implement strategies for the development of new enterprise scale applications in the Java J2EE technology space as well as Business Intelligence and Enterprise Reporting. In addition, the candidate should be capable of managing projects, development deliverables, and requirements scope for new or existing products and applications. The candidate will possess strong technical and programming skills including experience with designing, developing, deploying, and maintaining enterprise-class system software. These qualities should be used effectively to work with developers, architects, administrators, and analysts to resolve complex system issues as well as communicating the results to senior management. Candidate should posses' strong communication skills to effectively manage the internal and external expectations from customers. These communication skills should also be used to effectively in communicating project progress to senior management.
Experience working across multiple technologies, development tools, operating systems, and application servers is a must. The candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining development plans, release management strategies, and testing methodologies that ensure application development is within the prescribed best practices for all assigned software systems. These responsibilities must be met while ensuring compliance with system specifications. The candidate must maintain a high degree of process, and documentation on all software releases to support existing development efforts as well as the maintenance of deployed solutions.
Responsibilities:
Create comprehensive development plans
Collaborate with Developers and Business Analysts as needed to resolve and identify the root cause of defects and/or usability concerns of solutions
Collaborate with other project teams to improve process, tools, quality metrics, and methodology
Escalate issues and Communicate the status of deliverables to key stake holders
Collaborate with other team members for the design, implementation, and maintenance of the development efforts
Ensure technical documentation and systems are in agreement
Ensure the execution of Unit and Module-level tests against detailed design specifications
Provide coordination for the project team regarding scope, issue resolution, project priorities, and following the development methodology
Develop and document clear and concise custom program specifications through consultation with analysts to ensure the successful delivery of user specifications
Provide impact assessments to offer workable and efficient technical solution to meet business needsQualifications:
Required Skills:
BS in Computer Science with professional work experience in software development
A minimum of 7 years cumulative experience creating enterprise-class software development with 3 years experience in solution architecture, design, and development
A strong technical background and leadership skills coupled with in-depth experience developing software for enterprise-class applications on J2EE platforms
Experience creating and executing comprehensive development plans for enterprise-class applications
Experience using development tools like Eclipse, MyEclipse and RAD
Extensive hands on experience with WebSphere or similar J2EE containers and experience developing and extending packaged application and system software
Demonstrated experience implementing and maintaining enterprise-class applications
Strong and Proven Experience in using Spring Framework in designing and developing enterprise-class applications
5+ years experience in web technologies, such as Java, HTML, XML, JSP, and Java Script
Demonstrated ability to handle/organize multiple complex technical projects simultaneously without compromising the quality of work or the final product
Demonstrated strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills
Self-motivated team player to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment who thrives on challenging problems
Must have strong interpersonal skills, capable of working both independently as well as part of a team
Desired Skills:
Experience in using Hibernate and JPA
Experience with scripting tools like Maven and Ant
Experience with Web 2.0 frameworks like jQuery and EXTJS is highly desirable.
Strong database and middleware skills.
Prior experience in creating enterprise-class solutions for retail business
Background in Agile, CMM or other software development methodologies
Potential to guide, measure, manage, mentor and motivate a development team
Experience working on web frameworks like Spring, Hibernate, Dojo
Database or SQL experience using DB2 for AIX is a plus
Experience in implementing middleware technologies like JMS using WebSphere MQ.
Experience in implementing SOAP/ Web Services using AXIS/ Spring WS
Experience in implementing/extending packaged J2EE solutions like Workbrain
Experience in using Rational line of products including Rational Team Concert & Rational Functional Tester
