Job Description
Compass Group has designed a challenging hourly training program with our Eurest corporate dining division to develop new graduates into successful managers. Becoming a manager in our business takes a lot of hands on experience as well as utilizing all the training tools available to you. As a new graduate hourly apprentice you will be asked to take on a lead hourly role such as lead line cook, catering supervisor, retail supervisor, front of the house supervisor, culinary supervisor, hourly sous chef etc. On top of your daily responsibilities in this role you will be participating in training on-line, quarterly meetings and some classroom style training programs.
Below is an outline of what you can expect as a New Graduate Hourly Apprentice:
Stage 1
- Overview of Compass Group philosophies and brand focus
- On-line certification courses
- Working personality assessment
- Hands on learning - learning your job
Stage 2
- On-site training for all culinary/ retail/ catering/ café
- Passport training to further familiarize you with company policies and procedures
- Develop key training measurables for operational excellence
- Advanced training on in house financials, inventory, purchasing, HR and menu design systems
Stage 3
- "Center for Excellence" new manager orientation
- Developing managerial skills with on-line and classroom style programs
- Further development of the fundamentals of managing an account
During this training program you will be assigned a mentor who will guide you through out the program and ensure you are getting the support you need to develop into a great manager.
Learner-based, learner-paced
At Compass we realize that each individual has their own learning style and pace. A typical timeline for completion of the program can be one year to 18 months.
Recipe to Succeed:
- Supervisory, leadership, management and coaching skills
- Good communication skills both written and verbal
- Ability to communicate on various levels to include management, guests, client, and associates
- Basic knowledge of financial, budgetary, accounting and computational practices
- Proficient computer skills to include Microsoft Office applications, company software, e-mail and the Internet
Necessary Ingredients:
- Open only to recent hospitality/culinary graduates
- Must be willing to relocate anywhere within assigned region after completion of training
- Bachelor''s degree in foodservice/hospitality-related field preferred
- Minimum 1 year foodservice experience and/or related internship
- Computer competency in all MS Office Applications
