POSITION SUMMARY
Manages and coordinates the activities of designated projects within specified time frame and funding parameters to ensure that goals/objectives of the project are accomplished.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Work under the guidance of the Assistant Director to ensure that implementation and prescribed activities are carried out in accordance with specified objectives.
- Coordinates project activities; assigns tasks and provides guidance to personnel responsible for specific functions or phases of the project.
- Confers with staff to explain project and individual responsibilities for functions and phases of the project.
- Coordinates maintenance and special projects with other university departments. Works with contractors and vendors as needed.
- Supervises planning and estimating functions on assigned projects, including the preparation of preliminary and detailed estimates and fixed-price contract proposals for maintenance repair, renovations or improvement work to be performed by SSC Facilities staff and/or outside contractors.
- Manages and administers coordination of meetings and communications.
- Prepares project reports and controls expenditures in accordance with budget allocations.
- Ensures billable services are correctly reported and recorded for accounting purposes.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
- Coordinates service requests with Assistant Director to determine whether performance of work will be by SSC Facilities staff or via contractors.
- Manages contract compliance, quality inspections and all contract documents related to assigned projects.
- Works with Assistant Director and shop supervisors to develop long-range shop work load plans based upon work backlog and Facilities shop capabilities.
- Generates work status reports.
- Evaluates the effectiveness of Facilities services to the campus and develops and recommends methods of improvement/expansion of these services.
- Coordinates maintenance activities occurring during nights, weekends and holidays.
- Contributes to the effective team management of all relevant problems, issues and opportunities.
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or related field required -- ten plus (10+) years of experience will substitute for degree. Seven (7) years’ experience in facilities management required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Strong computer skills necessary, including knowledge of Windows applications. Must be proficient in Excel and have a working knowledge of estimating soft wares. Ability to read and interpret blue prints, knowledge of CAD/GIS applications preferred. Valid Texas driver’s license and good driving record required.
