Job Description:
Compass Group, the world's leading contract foodservice company, has a Great Opportunity for career development and growth here at its North America headquarters in Charlotte, NC as a Paralegal/Legal Assistant - Procurement.
This position will provide legal support for procurement-related and other transactional matters related to Compass Group's procurement subsidiary, Foodbuy, LLC, which is a group purchasing organization ("GPO").
Responsibilities:
Provide legal and administrative support for attorney handling a large volume of procurement contracts and other procurement-related matters
Interpret information on contract request forms and information provided by procurement managers/analysts to draft and revise many different procurement-related contracts
Draft and revise amendments and modifications to a variety of procurement-related contracts
Create and maintain contract files (electronic and paper); Update and help maintain procurement contract database
Provide guidance to procurement managers/analysts throughout the contracting process
Manage contracting process to ensure consistency and proper documentation
Assist with conducting contract process training sessions for the Company's Procurement Department
Draft new contract templates and update all contract templates based on needs of the Legal, Risk Management and Procurement Departments
Draft and distribute communications to the Procurement Department regarding process requirements, process reminders, and other general contracting information
Serve as legal liaison between Risk Management/Quality Assurance Departments and Procurement Department to ensure proper Quality Assurance/Insurance documentation for vendors submitted and approved
Conduct preliminary review of contracts based on inquiries from Procurement Department (review for termination provisions, penalties, etc.)
Draft, prepare and send correspondence, including contract termination and demand letters
Qualifications:
Current paralegal certification preferred.
2+ years legal experience supporting a procurement or contract team in a large corporation required, including experience in drafting and managing contracts
Exceptional written and oral communication and contract drafting skills and strong analytical ability are essential
Strong organizational, multi-tasking and prioritizing skills and able to work independently within the bounds of the position
Team player with strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish effective working relationships with various internal departments
Aptitude to work in fast-paced, diverse and challenging environment
Strong computer skills - Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint
