HR CONSULTANT


Provides field and corporate support to operations business partners at the RVP and DM level with emphasis in litigation avoidance activities including providing training at regional and district meetings, associate relations, DOL and OFCCP audits, and co-ordinates field based HR training. Content expert regarding HR policies, procedures, programs and state and local employment legislation.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


Associate Relations Duties:



  • Investigates and advises management in appropriate resolution of associate relations issues that arise either as an escalation or as a result of a direct request from operations

  • Is content expert regarding policies, procedures and programs

  • May represent organization at personnel-related hearings and investigations

  • Supports internal customer survey and associate satisfaction interpretation/feedback process and action planning and follow-up

  • Attends RVP/DM meetings to increase HR visibility, conduct classroom training, provide assistance and implement district and region HR initiatives

  • Supports Sector and provides direct assistance and support in critical markets

  • Uses associate satisfaction survey data to support unit managers in feedback sessions and action planning

  • Identifies critical needs area’s and takes appropriate steps to rectify problems

  • Coordinates with legal to respond to all EEOC and OFCCP charges

  • Conducts climate surveys and exit interviews, as well as reviews Associate and Customers Satisfaction Surveys to analyze and monitor levels of associate morale and job satisfaction

  • Drives sound risk and financial management practices that will reduce SUTA costs below industry benchmarks, minimizes legal costs, and meets corporate financial overhead/income goals


Support New Unit Openings/Acquisitions Duties:



  • Uses Transition Planner to assist in new unit openings and transition phase of acquisitions and closings when the unit size dictates HR involvement

  • Coordinates and conducts new hire orientation and management training related to HR issues in unit opening and payroll transitions as appropriate


Training and Development Duties:



  • Coordinates and conducts management training related to the operators HR responsibilities (i.e.: terminations, sexual harassment, and managing performance)

  • Using research data from the PEOPLE SERVICE CENTER HR Advisors follows up as needed with units where norms for LTO, HR Assessments, and compliance with mandated training, SS mismatch issues are identified

  • Delivers training presentations regarding human resources policies, programs and practices

  • Presents standardized HR related topics

  • Regularly conducts HR related training to the field at district and regional meetings (i.e.: Sexual Harassment, Progressive Discipline)


Visibility and Communication:



  • Supports Preferred Employer objectives and HR business plan by attending and participating in district and region meetings

  • Builds HR credibility and operations relations by performing annual “Day In The Life” (DITL) tours and account visitations with District and Region management


Recipe to Succeed:



  • Respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.

  • Write speeches, training materials, and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.

  • Effectively present information to all levels of management, public interest groups, and/or board of directors

  • Ability to anticipate, recognize and define problems from both a global and finite perspective, collect data, establish facts, and draw logical and valid conclusions.

  • Ability to lead and manage a team of HR professionals in a multi-site, multi-state environment.


Necessary Ingredients:



  • Bachelor's Degree or PHR or SPHR - 1 of 3 or equivalent preferred

  • Master's degree desirable

  • Two-five (2-5) years experience in a multi-site, multi-state environment

  • Previous experience in overseeing the activities of a large number of employees in multiple sites and multiple states highly desirable

  • Associate relations experience a must

  • Previous operations experience a plus

  • Union experience highly desirable

  • Must be willing to work the necessary hours and schedule to meet business needs

  • Must be able to travel up to 50%
