The Culinary Manager in Training Program (MIT) is a GREAT OPPORTUNITY to develop into a leader with a great company and fast growing industry. Working as a MIT for Chartwells Higher Education Dining Services will allow you the opportunity to work with GREAT people like yourself! You will be surrounded by people that are passionate about what they do.
The Manager in Training Program provides a unique opportunity for talented and passionate new graduates. The MIT Program is a 12 week premier training opportunity not only to prepare for a rewarding and challenging career, but also to make a significant contribution to the organization.
Your 12 week MIT training will focus on developing culinary skills that are specific to the Higher Education environment. This training will include menu planning and forecasting for purchasing and production needs in an All You Care to Eat dining location. You will learn about inventory management, food cost management, scheduling and labor controls. For production you will be trained to use Webtrition the Compass proprietary production management system. In addition you will learn about financial accountability, hiring, training and developing your front line staff. All this will prepare you for a bright future with Chartwells Higher Education.
During this training program you will be assigned a mentor who will guide you through out the program and ensure you are getting the support you need to develop into a great manager. Note that rotations are subject to change based on needs the business and discretion of your mentor.
Recipe to Succeed:
Supervisory, leadership, management and coaching skills
Good communication skills both written and verbal
Ability to communicate on various levels to include management, guests, client, and associates
Basic knowledge of financial, budgetary, accounting and computational practices
Proficient computer skills to include Microsoft Office applications, company software, e-mail and the Internet
Necessary Ingredients:
Open only to recent hospitality/culinary graduates
MUST be willing to relocate anywhere within assigned region after completion of training
Bachelor's degree in foodservice/hospitality-related field preferred
Minimum 1 year foodservice experience and/or related internship
Computer competency in all MS Office Applications
