Job Description:
Foodbuy is the foodservice industry's leading Group Purchasing Organization (GPO) focused on lowering purchasing and product costs for foodservice organizations. With offices in Charlotte, NC and Alpharetta, GA, we offer a Great Opportunity for career development and growth as a Purchasing Specialist.
The Purchasing Specialist is responsible for processing commodity requests throughout the entire Foodbuy supply chain to maximize purchasing income. This position is accountable for performing detailed research to ensure the right product is placed on managed order guides.
Responsibilities:
Process product requests, stock requests and special orders within Foodbuy's Customer Service Level Agreement parameters.
Manage adherence to Foodbuy Compliant Supplier Programs.
Liaison with category development and culinary leaders to ensure correct product is approved for managed order guides.
Monitor status of all Remedy cases and provide feedback to BuySmart in a timely manner.
Provide support to field via BuySmart for any product requests.
Provide feedback pertaining to Suppliers to the respective Category Managers.
Be able to identify cost savings and increased efficiency and effectively communicate these opportunities to Compass Units, Category Managers and Culinary Leads.
Utilization of software applications for purchasing activities.
Provide Sector: specific expertise to ensure proper commodity selections are given.
Work closely and supply assistance to Compliance analysts.Qualifications:
Excellent communications skills, both in speaking and in writing.
High aptitude for learning software programs including Ceres, Remedy, and MS Office programs
Good judgment, with the ability to make timely and sound decisions.
Creative problem-solving skills.
Relevant business experience or college degree.
Two to five years experience in Foodservice, Distribution or within Compass Group preferred.
Ability to multitask and prioritize cases by urgency.
Exceptional organization skills.
Versatility, flexibility, and willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm
Purchasing experience a plus; Ability to apply Procurement knowledge to resolve incidents.
