Job Description:
Foodbuy is the foodservice industry’s leading Group Purchasing Organization (GPO) focused on lowering purchasing and product costs for foodservice organizations.
The Senior Sourcing Manager is responsible for the sourcing, negotiation and selection of the supply base for Compass & Foodbuy customers. The goal of the job is to optimize value in the supplier/business unit relationship. The key function of the job is to identify and understand the business's requirements and apply a strategic sourcing process, selecting vendors that can best meet all supply chain requirements and deliver the greatest return on investment.
Annual spend threshold will be up to approximately $1 billion with individual contract negotiation responsibility negotiated up to $500 million.
Key relationships will include Strategic Suppliers, Business Need VPs, Sourcing VP, Sourcing Directors, Distribution Director, Finance managers, Committed Customer contacts in Atlanta & CDMs.
This position will be based in our Charlotte, NC office.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for negotiating and contracting with the supply base for Foodbuy for food, beverages, indirect and direct services ensuring alignment with Category and overall Business plans
- In conjunction with the key business stakeholders, conduct sourcing activities that optimize value across the supplier & business relationships for Compass and third party clients who operate across a wide range of industries
- In line with the sourcing calendar conduct industry deep dive analysis to support CDMs with commercial understanding of the market place & provide proactive insight to long term potential sourcing strategies (3+ years)
- Develop & refine the procurement processes to minimize efforts & maximize benefits through compliance & specification controls
- Define most appropriate sourcing procurement process to be used e.g. Traditional RFQ/RFP/RFI, on line Auction, Collaborative sourcing, multi-event negotiations, etc.
- Ensure that the range of services & or products has been sourced and negotiated at the lowest net price and met the businesses needs
- Supplier performance management
- Initial contracting administration & set up to execute the contract
- Continually strive to seek out opportunities to improve the overall profitability of the business by leveraging market & product expertise across distribution, products and services
- Gives operational direction to the category Procurement activity and collaborate in adding value to the local Procurement activity by applying processes which support the overall strategy
Qualifications:
- 5+ years proven management experience in Procurement and Supply Chain Management with a track record of solid management behavior and results is mandatory.
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree is required; MBA is desired.
- Significant experience leading and conducting negotiations for contracts with domestic & international sources across a wide portfolio of categories in food & beverages, as well as non food such as chemicals, kitchen equipment, linen supplies, facilities management services, transport, capital and facilities services.
- Proven track record of applying best practice as a Procurement professional in a wide range of industries; one of these must be in food service.
- Experience working with third party clients where persuasion and influencing are key to delivering strategic value.
- Expert level skills with analytical tools & proven ability to utilize these to influence others. High proficiency level with MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Is able to draw conclusions and make sourcing recommendations from large data sets across the business (at all levels) to ensure commitment & buy in to the recommendation(s)
- Experience of broader aspects of supply chain, as well as providing evidence of a broader business perspective such as balancing cost, value, risk & opportunity.
- Evidence of world class negotiating skills required. Strong negotiation and relationship building experience at the most senior level into supplier organizations.
- Evidence of an ability to work cross-functionally with colleagues in operations, finance, customer service.
- Proven track record of ability to influence in a cross functional organization including conflict resolution.
- Strong project management skills.
- Evidence of an ability to provide strategic leadership to the function as well as contributing at the operational level.
- Well developed people and change management skills which equip an individual to lead teams including cross matrix and cross cultural groups.
- Excellent communicator and relationship builder.
- Strong networking skills, ability to influence and get things done through informal as well as formal channels.
- Proven experience in managing a P & L or budget, and deliver plan results.
- Ability to operate at fast pace in an entrepreneurial environment.
- Outstanding presentation skills and selling skills to sell in key programs.
- Capacity to handle multiple changing agendas yet to stay in control of events.
- Ability to travel 10% to 20% annually.
