Job Description:
The primary focus of this position is to support the Human Resources function so that it meets the needs of the Food and Nutrition Services Department at Oakwood Dearborn Hospital. The HR manager will take the lead role in all of the following functional areas: associate relations, Union relations, HR specific training, HR legal requirements and compliance, deployment of HR policies and procedures, associate engagement survey action plan follow up, performance and attendance monitoring, hiring non-exempt associates and managing the labor relations process.. The HR Manager will act as the liaison between Morrison, the Union and the Hospital HR Department. Specific duties include:
Responsibilities:
- Acts as Morrison spokesperson for union labor agreement.
- Plans, sets objectives, and develops appropriate strategies and tactics to maximize a productive, engaged workforce
- Administers labor agreement; Advises operating management on disciplinary and contract interpretation issues.
- To comply with labor agreement and company rules; to avoid unnecessary litigation.
- Acts as department advocate in union meetings.
- Prepares and presents Department’s position; prepares briefs and other documents for meetings.
- To uphold the integrity of the Hospital’s labor agreement and management actions.
- Objectively coach associates and management through complex and difficult issues. Provide guidance to management on appropriate disciplinary action. Assist with on-site investigations and all grievance processes.
- Support internal customer survey and associate engagement survey interpretation/feedback process.
- Attend department manager meetings to increase HR visibility, conduct classroom training, provide assistance and implement HR initiatives.
- Design and implement human resources tools to support the strategic and tactical HR business plan.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in HR or related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
- PHR or SPHR designation strongly preferred.
- 5+ years human resources generalist experience required; extensive union experience required.
- HR experience at a large organization required.
- Intermediate Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills; advanced skills preferred.
- Experience responding to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies or members of the business community.
- Strong presentation and communication skills required.
