Job Description: Direct responsibility for the overall foodservice and operational safety in a corporate dining account. Personally accountable for the overall safety behaviors of their account. Operates the department in accordance with the approved Quality Assurance standards and Loss Prevention methods, while providing the Client with a safety first facility. Ensures that the food and service offered to the client, customers, and employees of the operation is of superior safety. Directs and conducts safety, sanitation, and maintenance programs. Maintains excellent relationships with employees, guests and Client as well a other departments within the operation. Promotes the professional growth and development of the entire team. In addition, the coordinator will foster strong inter-departmental relations and integrate the dining service department with the facility safety program.


Summary: Provide tactical support to the unit level managers in safety surveillance, implementation, and compliance of Occupational Safety, Health and Quality Assurance Standards.


Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities


Essential Functions and Responsibilities:



  • Perform unit level safety surveillance food safety audits in minimum of five units per week

  • Provide written feedback to unit managers regarding unit observations and findings during unit surveillance

  • Work with managers to find solutions to Occupational Safety/QA challenges and crisis

  • Attend monthly Safety/QA management team meetings

  • Work through managers to make corrective actions in units

  • Train associates, one-on-one, with manager involvement

  • Provide verification that the Safety/QA coaching and systems are working daily

  • Work with managers to reduce red critical violations and repeat violations

  • Attend meetings, workshops and special events for QA issues

  • Attend annual Health Department workshops, and all mandatory food related management meetings, all safety related/QA management meetings

  • Maintain clean and safe work environment; Perform the job safely

  • Other duties may be assigned

Occupational Health and Safety Skills:



  • Perform unit level safety audits

  • Maintain Quality Assurance binder logs

  • Spot check food temperatures

  • Opening/Closing Walkthroughs

  • Pre Service Worker training

  • Food/Sanitation Handbook and Procedures

  • Food Safety Guidelines

  • Stocking Compliance

  • Personal Protective Equipment Ordering/Issuing

  • Ability to Identify Hazards

  • Quality Review and Finalize LPS documents from Management

  • Complete Monthly Reports and related metrics


Necessary Skills:



  • Maintain ServSafe Certification (within 90 days as per Compass Standard)

  • Attention to detail and ability to help managers to find solutions

  • Demonstrated ability to focus

  • Demonstrated written and oral communication skills; professionalism

  • Proficient in MS Office applications including Word, Excel, Visio, Power Point and Outlook.

  • Recognize Safety/QA requirements for equipment, facilities and vendors


Education/ Experience



  • College degree and /or relevant experience in safety or quality assurance industry with operations driven, quality assurance focus. Experience in regulatory or quality assurance surveillance and inspections. At least one year related

  • Occupational Safety/QA experience/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
