Job Description:
The role of the Data Warehouse Developer within Compass Group STG requires a background in data warehousing for reporting and dashboards, strong SQL skills (DB2/SQL Server), ETL knowledge, debugging capabilities, strong team oriented work ethic, and an understanding of business objectives. This role provides access to essential data for multiple reporting and functional applications. This includes Business Objects, JD Edwards and our proprietary applications BV Fusion and Pulse. The analyst will create, maintain and grow products and services that help us achieve our critical strategic initiatives.
Candidate should possess strong communication skills to effectively manage the internal and external expectations from customers. These communication skills should also be used to effectively communicate project progress to management and team.
This position is based in our Minneapolis, MN office.
Responsibilities:
Development
- Develop new tables and universes for the data warehouse used by Business Objects, Pulse, and BV Fusion.
- Create stored procedures to effectively return datasets for multiple platforms.
- Demonstrate a systemic thought process through all phases of software development.
- Participate in open discussions during the analysis and design phases of development.
Create and Maintain
- Optimize current databases, indexes, and stored procedures.
- Create and maintain ETL processes using Data Integrator.
- Create and maintain technical documentation when developing solutions.
- Maintain and enhance existing software using the SDLC process.
Analysis
- Perform technical analysis and design for a given business requirement. This will include setting expectations for what will be needed to complete the project.
- Create ad-hoc queries to assist the business and the technology group.
- Analyze, debug and make changes to software when assigned.
Relationships
- Build a good rapport and maintain positive relationships with other team members, business analysts, outside customer contacts, and users.
Qualifications:
- BS in Computer Science or related field is preferred.
- 3+ years of professional work experience in business data.
- Language specific or System certifications are a plus.
- Enterprise reporting universe development.
- Enterprise report writing.
- Strong SQL background.
- ETL development.
- Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- JD Edwards experience or similar ERP system and/or Business Objects experience is preferred.
- Must have ability to take vague business requests and translate them to functional enhancements/products.
- Great communication skills with the ability to work in team environment.
- Must be able to work in a fast paced environment.
