Job Description:
Foodbuy is the foodservice industry’s leading Group Purchasing Organization (GPO) focused on lowering purchasing and product costs for committed customers. With offices in Charlotte, NC and Alpharetta, GA, we offer a Great Opportunity for career development and growth as a Purchasing Manager within our Distribution department.
The Purchasing Manager is responsible and accountable for the day to day execution of assigned distribution and business plans as designated by manager for Compass & Foodbuy customers. The Purchasing Manager position is also responsible for assisting with the management of Foodbuy Distribution Partners implementation and processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with Compliance and other functional areas to ensure that Distribution Centers are aligned with Foodbuy contracted programs, culinary initiatives and Foodbuy Member requirements.
- Work with supervisor in developing and monitoring distributor 12-month business plans for assigned distribution partners
- Evaluate on-going service level requirements, maintain distributor scorecards
- Act as key liaison for customer/Sector: service level issues and improvements
- Manage monthly reporting and forecasting activities to ensure all distributor information and reporting is accurate and timely
- Conduct industry analysis to provide proactive insight to 3-year distribution strategy
- Prepare and execute cost-savings projects across assigned distributors
- Acquire and communicate market knowledge for assigned distributors
Project Management
- Accountable for achieving financial and value optimization targets developed as part of annual distributor plans
- Create and update project progress plans to reflect necessary activities, savings, cost and timing
- Ensure projects are upheld to business standards prior to implementation. Areas of focus include but not limited to; quality, regulatory and legal compliance, consumer acceptance and supply chain deployment
- Monitor all sourcing projects and provide reports on savings, associated timing and costs
- Lead meetings with cross functional project teams for adherence to deliverables and timing
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience in foodservice distribution and purchasing required
- Bachelor’s degree preferred; Supply Chain or related field of study preferred; significant related experience will be considered in lieu of formal education
- Evidence of an ability to work cross-functionally with colleagues in operations, finance, customer service
- Must have a clear understanding of food service distribution, supply chain and route to market knowledge for key categories
- Excellent communicator and relationship builder
- Demonstrates networking skills, ability to influence and get things done through informal as well as formal channels
- Strong professional presentation and interpersonal skills; excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Organization and project management skills required to manage complex projects
- Capacity to handle multiple changing agendas yet to stay in control of events
- Proficiency with MS Office suite including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
